The ninth annual Sunbury 5K will be held Oct. 13 in Sunbury, and early registration is open for $25.
The race will begin at 10 a.m. from the Sunbury Crab Company and will wind through Sunbury neighborhoods and Fort Morris Historic Site and finally finish back at the Crab Company.
Awards will be given for the overall top three male and female runners, as well as the top three male and female runners in each five-year age group.
Presenting Sponsor for the race will be Darsey, Black and Associates (DBA) based in Hinesville. DBA has been providing confidential, low-cost clinical mental health services to the Coastal Georgia area since 1991.
“DBA has been a supporter of the Sunbury 5K since their first race in 2010, and we’re thrilled to be the 2018 Presenting Sponsor. Our entire team looks forward to the event each year and this gives us an additional opportunity to promote overall fitness in the community,” said Dr. Tommy Black, DBA co-owner and clinical supervisor
Since the first Sunbury 5K, more than $35,000 has been donated to charitable causes. The 2017 event distributed funds to local charities Carpathia Paws, The Liberty Coalition for the Homeless and the Hinesville Vietnam Veterans.
The generosity of all sponsors ensures that 100 percent of registration proceeds go directly to the charity partners. In addition to Presenting Sponsor Darsey, Black and Associates, Gold Sponsors for 2018 are The Sunbury Crab Company, Adam Herndon State Farm, Foot and Ankle Associates and Merritt and Grinstead Attorneys.
