City of Richmond Hill to host Memorial Day Ceremony

The City of Richmond Hill will host its annual Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 25, 2026, at 11 am at J.F. Gregory Park, located at 521 Cedar Street.

In a press release, the City says that the ceremony is an opportunity for residents to honor the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

This year’s program will feature:

  • National Anthem performed by Dr. Hubert Quiller of Restoration Worship Center
  • Invocation and Benediction by Rev. Steve Lane of New Beginnings Community Church
  • A 21-gun salute by B Company, 2nd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division
  • Taps performed by SSG Benjamin Pryse of the 3rd Infantry Division Band
  • Special guests
    • Sally Rejas of American Legion J.E. Lanier Post 27
    • Chris Shipman of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7331
    • Rep. Ron Stephens of Georgia House District 164
  • Featured Guest Speaker: Major Colton Parr, 2nd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division

Major Colton Parr currently serves as the Executive Officer for the 2nd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division. Throughout his military career, Major Parr has held a variety of leadership and operational roles. His previous assignments include Operations Officer, 2-7 IN, commander, Hatchet Troop, 2-13 Cav, Fort Bliss, commander, Apache Troop, 2-13 Cav, Fort Bliss; executive officer, Crazyhorse Troop, 5th Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment, Fort Wainwright, AK; and reconnaissance-platoon leader, Crazyhorse Troop, 5-1 Cav, Fort Wainwright.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations from Middle Tennessee State University and a Master of Operational Studies from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College.

In addition, he has been recognized with several prestigious military branch honors, including the Command and General Staff College Master Tactician designation, the U.S. Armor Association's Bronze-level Order of Saint George, and the National Infantry Association's Legionnaire-level Order of Saint Maurice.
