On Election Day, voters across Bryan County decisively chose to renew the 1% Education Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax, known colloquially as ESPLOST.
With 100% of precincts reporting, 5,799 voters chose “YES” to the resolution, amounting to 65% of the vote share. 3,118 voters, or 35%, said “NO”.
The resolution will continue a one-percent sales tax across the county to fund capital projects related to public school education.
Turnout for Tuesday’s primary elections reached 26.21% of registered voters in the county.
