Bryan County High School softball star Brooke Barfield officially became a Yellow Jacket on Wednesday when she signed a letter of intent to join the Georgia Tech program during a well-attended ceremony at BCHS.
Barfield, the Region 2-AA Pitcher of the Year, cited the atmosphere at Tech as a draw for her.
“It’s a big family at Georgia Tech. It’s just amazing,” she said.
According to RamblinWreck.com, Barfield is part of a recruiting class that is ranked No. 24 in the nation by FloSoftball.
“Brooke has the potential to be a top-flight pitcher in the ACC,” Tech coach Shelly Hoerner said on the school’s website. “She is a long lefty with long levers and uses them well. She has the excellent athleticism required to repeat her delivery and become a pitcher that can consistently locate her pitches and move the ball. Her ceiling is incredibly high, and we couldn’t be more excited to have her and help her reach that ceiling.”
