Talia Johnson is a junior volleyball player for the Richmond Hill High School Lady Wildcats. One of the top players on the team, she has had a junior season to remember.
“My junior year has gone pretty well, and I made a lot of big decisions,” Johnson said. “Although it just started, I'm hoping it stays consistently good throughout the year.
“My decision to commit to Coastal Carolina was purely based on the people. I was wanted there for me as a person. Yes, skill was a part of it, but everyone there I met was very genuine and kind, almost like a family.”
Not only has Johnson decided on what school she wants to attend after her senior year, but she has also decided on her career path.
“I was thinking of going on the med track, so public health, bio, or anything because I always wanted to go into pediatrics,” Johnson said. “However, from recent events in my law I’ve been considering law school because there’s so many innocent people in the world that are incarcerated unfairly.”
Back on the court, Johnson’s talents speak for themselves, but she also brings other intangibles to the Lady ‘Cats.
“I think what I bring to my team as a player is my calm persona while playing,” Johnson said. “Also, my tendency to uplift others more than myself helps us succeed, too.
“What I believe makes me a good Outside hitter is my volleyball IQ, my ability to read the other side of the court, athleticism, as well as my ability to take and put into action constructive feedback.”
As her junior season for volleyball begins to wrap up, Johnson sees big things for the team in the near future.
“I see the season finishing out as region champs,” Johnson said. “I also hope to make it far in the playoffs.”
