Taking within context, the Bible doesn’t tell us that all judgement towards others is wrong. Examples from everyday life would teach us that.
Take for instance you see 2 guys running up to your house with machetes, you wouldn’t think, I’m not going to judge them, so I’ll just ignore them or ask them to come in. Or if a young man is dating your daughter and you see him slapping her and cursing at her, you wouldn’t say, “well, I’m not going to judge him”, Hunny, go out with whoever you wish”.
What it does tell us is that we should always judge fairly, and we should judge in a way that we would have others judge us. Look how Jesus stated this in Matthew 7:1-5 where it states: “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye”.
When I am in traffic I try to remember these scriptures. There are times when others have pulled out in front of me or came a little bit in my lane.
I will admit that I am not the perfect driver and have made some mistakes myself. Also, there are times at business establishments where workers seem to be rude or the service subpar. I don’t know what they are going through and there are times in my own life where I have bad days.
May God help us to always give others the benefit of the doubt when possible and spend some time looking in the mirror when we are tempted to judge others unfairly.
