An Ellabell woman died Friday, Aug. 24, after suffering serious injuries in a car accident on Tuesday.

Christian “Christy” Metts was traveling east on I-16 when she reportedly lost control of her vehicle about a mile east of Old River Road in Effingham County, according to Georgia State Patrol Trooper L. Ruffin.

When Metts lost control, her vehicle reportedly crossed the median and collided with a westbound vehicle. While the westbound vehicle’s driver sustained “visible injuries” during the crash, Ruffin said it was not serious. Metts was taken to Savannah’s Memorial Health University Medical Center, where she died on Friday.

A Memorial Visitation will be held Saturday, Aug. 25, from 6 – 9 p.m. at Flanders Morrison Funeral Home in Pembroke; the Memorial Service will be Sunday at 3 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home.
