SouthCoast Health, the Savannah-based medical organization formerly known as SouthCoast Medical Group, will host a free community diabetes awareness seminar in observance of American Diabetes Month on Tuesday, Nov. 18 at 6:30 p.m.

The free event, held at the practice’s Richmond Hill medical campus (89 Interchange Drive), will feature a discussion on the most effective treatment methods for the disease, which affects nearly 30 million people in the United States.

Family medicine specialist, Dr. Regina Dandy, and family nurse practitioner, Nanci Ahearn, will be available to answer questions and provide health and wellness information during the seminar. Light refreshments will also be served.

“Understanding the symptoms and proper treatments for diabetes is crucial for avoiding complications resulting from the disease,” said SouthCoast Health Administrator, John Marrero. “We are committed to providing the members of our communities with the best tools and latest knowledge to achieve their complete health and wellness.”
