At Tuesday night's council meeting, Richmond Hill Mayor Russ Carpenter announced that Sarah Robinson would be the Grand Marshal for the City's 25th Annual Christmas Parade.
Carpenter said, "The City of Richmond Hill is pleased to announce that the 2021 Christmas Parade Grand Marshal will be Mrs. Sarah Robinson. Now, you're not supposed to talk about a lady's age, but I don't think Mrs. Sarah will mind. She is 99 years old and will be 100 on December 10th of this year.
Born in 1921 in Indiana, Robinson is a WWII veteran and met her husband, Robbie, at Ft. Stewart. They settled in Richmond Hill in 1966, quickly becoming an important part of the community, which Robinson still serves diligently.
She is still a blood donor, active at the Richmond Hill United Methodist Church, and has helped to raise, guide, and discipline countless youngsters, teenagers, and young adults that have always been a mainstay at her home.
The annual Christmas Parade will be held on Saturday, December 4th at 10 am. along Ford Avenue ending at J.F. Gregory Park.
