Carson joins ExperCare in Richmond Hill, Savannah

Savannah native Dr. J. David Carson has joined ExperCare Urgent Care as director of occupational medicine and associate medical director at the Richmond Hill and Savannah locations, according to a news release.

Carson’s experience includes more than 18 years of clinical practice in occupational medicine, including 10 years at Industrial Medicine PC in Savannah. Prior to beginning his occupational-medicine practice, Carson practiced emergency medicine for 22 years, including working 14 years in the emergency department at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, where he served as medical director.

Carson received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. He spent three post-graduate years in the general-surgery residency program at Emory University Affiliated Hospitals in Atlanta, after which he was an emergency department staff physician at DeKalb General Hospital in Decatur.

Carson was later named DeKalb County fire surgeon, the official title for the medical director of DeKalb County Emergency Medical Services. In addition, Carson was chairman of the department of emergency medicine at DeKalb General Hospital.

ExperCare Urgent Care was founded in 2009 as The Urgent Care Center of Richmond Hill and recently announced it was opening its new location on Mall Boulevard in Savannah.
