Big crowds expected for GOSF this weekend
Seafood Fest 2021 flyer

With great weather in the forecast, and residents eager to make up for lost time, Richmond Hill's biggest event of the year, the Great Ogeechee Seafood Festival returns to J.F. Gregory Park this weekend after a year off.

Crowds are expected to be big for the annual three-day event, sponsored by the local chamber of commerce. The event was cancelled last year due to COVID-19, and the main Saturday night featured entertainment was a washout the previous year because of rain.

The Great Ogeechee Seafood Festival calls itself one of the largest seafood festivals in the southeast, featuring live music, amusement rides, arts and crafts, and of course, seafood. In the past, more than 25,000 people attended each year, according to the organizers.

Blackberry Smoke, a country rock band from Georgia is this year's headliner, playing Saturday night from 9:30 to 11 p.m. Kinchafoonee Cowboys and GrandVille are also on tap that evening, beginning at 5:30 p.m.  Thomas Claxton and The Myth, the Lance Stinson Band and Tobacco Road Band all play Friday night.

Entertainment is also included on Sunday, although the day is usually less crowded and a little quieter. Local dance acts and military bands highlight the day beginning at 11:15 a.m.

Admission is $10 for ages 6 and up on Friday, $20 for ages 16 and up and $15 for ages 6-15 on Saturday, and $5 for ages 6 and up on Sunday.

The Bryan County News is a proud sponsor of this festival.

GOSF FAQ (information from its website):

What does my ticket include?

When you purchase an admission ticket you are able to enter the Great Ogeechee Seafood Festival all day for the date you purchased. You will receive a stamp at the entrance so if you leave and would like to enter again you may. Your ticket includes the concerts on the evening of your ticket date. Once you are in the park you can purchase food and drinks, shop or enjoy the carnival for an additional cost.

What payment types are accepted at the event?

In order to reduce the time spent in lines, Admission and Beer ticket sales will be debit/credit card only this year. ATM’s will be onsite in the park for in park purchases (i.e. food, non-alcoholic drinks, carnival tickets, and vendor shopping). We appreciate your understanding.

Is there seating provided?

There is not any seating provided. The concert area is open-seating and you may bring your own chair. Outside coolers and food are not allowed.

Is there onsite parking?

There is not any on-site parking, but we do offer free offsite parking with a free shuttle. You can park at any of the Bryan County Schools and a Bryan County School bus will be running during festival hours to drop you off by the front gate. You can also park at Goodwill and get on a free shuttle. Parking close to the event is available for purchase, which usually goes to support a local non-profit.
