March Madness Basketball Challenge at Youth Gym
Youth, ages 8-17, are invited to the March Madness Basketball Challenge from 1-5 p.m. Saturday at Jordan Youth Gym. There's no charge.
The challenge will include a two-ball competition, three-point shootout, game of knockout, a dunk contest and skills challenge for prizes.
In addition, there will be door prizes and free food.

Big Lift Power Lifting Competition
The Big Lift Power Lifting Competition, offering you the chance to compete in three lifts with others in your weight class. It will be at the Newman Fitness Center starting at 10 a.m. Saturday March 19.
The competition will consist of three lifts: squat, bench press and dead lift. Lifters will compete for trophies in their weight class.
Would-be champions can register until Saturday. The late registration fee is $15. For more information, call 767-3031/9336.

Bass tournament at Fort Stewart
The Bass Tournament (total weight, five-fish maximum), will launch at safe light about 6:30 a.m. and continue until the weigh-in at 11 a.m. Saturday March 19 at Pond 1, Pineview Lake on Fort Stewart.
Registration is being accepted at the Stewart and Hunter Pass and Permit Offices. The Stewart office number is 435-8061. The Hunter office number is 912-315-5163.
Registration through Friday is $20 for soldiers, retirees and their family members and youth 16 and younger. The fee is $30 for the civilians.
Late registration, from 5:30-7 a.m. Saturday, is $30 for soldiers, retirees and their family members and youths. The civilian fee Saturday is $40.

Garrison Commander's Golf Scramble at Stewart
The Garrison Commander's Golf Scramble will tee off March 25 at Taylors Creek Golf Course. Players are asked to register by March 22.
Col. Kevin Milton invites you to play. Play will be limited to the first 25 (four-person) teams. Cost is $35 for soldiers, retirees, Army civilians and Taylors Creek or Hunter Club members and $45 per civilian guest.

BOSS Atlanta hockey/basketball trip
Register by March 23 for the Better Opportunity for Single Soldiers trip to professional hockey and basketball games, while enjoying the sights of Atlanta. The trip will be March 25-27.
See the Atlanta Thrashers vs. Vancouver Canucks clash in the NHL and the Atlanta Hawks vs. New Jersey Nets in the NBA. The cost is $140 per person (two-night hotel stay with breakfast and dinner, plus admission game tickets). For details, call the BOSS Office at 767-9917.

Youth Spring Break Fall-In
Register by March 23 for activities ranging from physical fitness and sports, arts and crafts, technology and computer classes, healthy and nutritional eating classes, work preparation, and leisure and recreation.
It's all part of the Youth Spring Break Fall-In from 8 a.m. to noon March 28-April 1 at Bryan Village Youth Center. There is no charge.

Youth Sponsorship Cumberland Island Trip Registration
CYSS registered youth can travel to Cumberland Island Seashore from 6:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. March 26. The barrier island off the Georgia coast is known for its wild ponies, pristine beaches and forests, Dungeness Castle and First African Baptist Church.
The trip is for youth (grades 4-12) to learn more about their surroundings and meet new friends. Registration continues through March 24.
The $10 fee covers transportation, ferry crossing and child supervision.
Tickets can be purchased at Parent Central Services, 767-2312 (Stewart) or 912-315-5425 (Hunter). No refunds granted after March 24 and a $5 cancellation fee will be applied after March 24 or for no-shows.

Families In Training Sign-up Under Way
Registration is under way for Families In Training, a six-week program at Tominac Fitness Center that develops and maintains physical activity and fitness.
The program allows family members to exercise individually or as a team. There's no charge, but registration will close on March 28.

Great MWR Yard Sale at Stewart, Hunter
The Great MWR Yard Sale is coming to Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. April 16.
Spaces are still available at the Hunter Credit Union parking lot, but the parking lot at Club Stewart is full.
The sale will be at homes in post housing areas at Stewart and Hunter, as well as the parking lots.
Active duty, family members, retirees, National Guard and Army civilians may sell. Space in the parking lots cost $5. There is no charge for on-post housing sellers, but they must register. The public is invited to the sale.
All sellers must sign up at the Sports Office, on Fort Stewart, or Tominac Fitness Center at Hunter.

Museum of Science and History Trip
Register by March 31 for a Leisure Travel trip to the Museum of Science and History in Jacksonville on April 2.
The $20 per person cost includes admission and the science and animal shows. A planetarium show is an extra $5 for the first program and $1 for each additional program. For details, call 767-2841 at Stewart or 912-315-3674 at Hunter.

Outdoor Wildlife Jamboree
An Outdoor Wildlife Jamboree will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 1 at Holbrook Pond Recreation Area for CYSS youth in grades 5-12.
April 1 is the first day of a month-long observance of the Month of the Military Child.
The Jamboree lets military youth gain better appreciation of various endangered species and wildlife indigenous to coastal Georgia. There is no charge. Transportation and cookout are provided.

Dance Aerobics at Jordan Gym
Registration is under way for a Dance Aerobics class for youth between the ages of 10 and 18. The six-week class is at Jordan Youth Gym every Wednesday and Friday from 6-7 p.m. and parents are encouraged to participate along with their child. There is no charge
Dance Aerobics is designed to strengthen the body and help participants lose weight.
The program consists of a 10-minute warm-up, followed by 25 minutes of dance aerobics, then a 15-minute cool down. Music is of different genres ranging from jazz to hip-hop.
