Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Dowd of Mt. Pleasant, N.C. and Ms. Terry Barnard of Pembroke announce the engagement of their daughter, Lindsay Claire Dowd of Statesboro, to Elmer Roy Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tony Miller of Stilson.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Vergie Barnard of Pembroke and the late Mr. Calvin Barnard, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Dowd, Sr. Miss Dowd is a honor graduate of Bryan County High School, and a 2004 graduate of Georgia Southern University, where she received a bachelor of science degree with a major in child and family development. Miss Dowd is employed with the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning as a child care consultant.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Buie Miller of Stilson, Mrs. Lois Nalley of Stilson, and the late Mr. Emit Nalley. Mr. Miller is a graduate of Southeast Bulloch High School and a 2007 graduate of Georgia Southern University, where he received a bachelor of science degree with a major in construction management and a minor in business. He is employed as a project engineer with R.B. Baker Construction, Inc.

The wedding ceremony and reception will be Oct. 6, 2007, at Meldrim Woods Plantation in Stilson.
