Cynthia Hatala’s third-grade class at Richmond Hill Elementary was recently selected as the class to be adopted by Faze II Ryderz.
Students wrote letters explaining why they would like to be adopted and why they wanted to send Christmas packages to soldiers in Afghanistan.
Faze II Ryderz chose the class, and the students made two large care packages. The group also had a reader come in each week and read a story to the students.
At Christmas, Faze II Ryderz took pictures of the class with two characters and printed a copy for them to take home.
Students also had a pizza party as a reading incentive and received trophies from Faze II Ryderz for being the best readers and math students.
They also gave trophies to the most improved students in math and reading.
The class got to meet Richmond Hill Mayor Harold Fowler when the trophies were handed out, and Hatala received a check for $300.
