Carver Science Olympiad
Members of the Carver Elementary Science Olympiad team recently competed in the Georgia Elementary Science Olympiad in Atlanta. The G.W. Carver Elementary Science Olympiad team competed in the Georgia Elementary Science Olympiad on May 15 at Kennesaw State University in Atlanta.

Students competed in 18 science, technology, engineering and math events.

They competed against 64 other Georgia elementary schools, medaling in three events and achieving top 10 in three additional events.

• Third place: Elements, Compounds, and Mixtures — Thailor Harris and Cecilia Mateo

• Third place: Bridge Building — Samantha Cuson and Lucy Tuttle

• Third place: Save Our Earth — Samantha Cuson and Natalie Cuson

• Fifth place: Straw Tower — Emily Buerger and Natalie Cuson

• Sixth place: Grasp a Graph — Aiden Gray and Evan Wiebold

• Seventh place:  Which Way is North? — Annalin Crawford and Cecilia Mateo

To make it to the state competition, the Carver team first competed in a regional competition April 10 at South Georgia State College in Waycross. At the regional competition, the team took home the top honors.

Coaches include Annemarie Crawford, Erin Mazel, Amy Wiebold, Mona Mateo, Shannen Scott, TJ Fontaine, Dana Cuson, Mike Cuson and LeeAnne Harris.
