Bryan County All-Star teams advance to state tournament

Bryan County Parks and Recreation is proud to recognize three Bryan County South All-Star teams that delivered outstanding performances during the Class A/B District 2 Tournaments held June 5-8, earning spots in their respective GRPA State Tournaments.

Bryan County South 8U Baseball

After opening the tournament in Ware County with a 13-1 loss to Wayne County, the Bryan County South 8U Baseball All-Stars battled through the loser's bracket with five consecutive victories over Pooler, Liberty County, Ware County, and Wayne County, including a thrilling 7-6 win to reach the championship game.

The team defeated Douglas/Coffee County 10-8 to force a winner-take-all final before ultimately finishing as District Runner-Up after a 15-3 loss. Their remarkable run secured a berth in the GRPA State Tournament in Statesboro on June 23-25.

The team was coached by Scott Strickland, Erick Sutton, and Ryan Brooks.

Bryan County South 14U Baseball

Competing on their home field in Richmond Hill, the Bryan County South 14U Baseball All-Stars rebounded from an opening-round loss with three straight victories over Camden County, Liberty County, and Glynn County, including a 6-5 win that earned a trip to the championship game.

The team fell to Wayne County 6-2 in the title game but claimed the District Runner-Up trophy and qualified for the GRPA State Tournament in Statesboro on June 23-25.

The team was coached by Jeff Nielsen, Matt Montanye, and Rich Caponi.

Bryan County South 12U Softball

Determined to build on last year's experience, the Bryan County South 12U Softball All-Stars dominated the District 2 Tournament in Ware County.

After receiving a first-round bye, the team defeated Glynn County 11-0, Douglas/Coffee County 10-1, and Wayne County 7-3 to capture the District Championship. Bryan County South finished the tournament undefeated, scoring 28 runs while allowing just four.

The District Champions will compete in the GRPA State Tournament in Whitfield County on June 23-25.

The team was coached by Billy Norwood, Jackson Brown, and Curtis Shank.
