Soccer tryouts
The Richmond Hill Soccer club is holding tryouts for the U-13 (Boys and Girls) and U-15 Girls Select teams. The Select Program is for players who want to play competitive level soccer with a serious commitment to the game. This level of youth soccer entails travel to other cities throughout Georgia. At least four or five games will be played out of town with the approximate same number of home games.
The tryouts will be held behind the Richmond Hill Elementary School Field No. 1.
The U-13 Boys and Girls Select tryout is Sunday, June 3 from 3-4:30 p.m. and Monday, June 4 from 6:30-8 p.m. Teams at this age are comprised of players who will not turn 13 prior to Aug. 1, 2007.

U-15 Girls Select tryouts are Thursday, June 14 and Tuesday, June 19 from 6:30-8 p.m. Teams at this age are for girls with birth date on or after Aug. 1, 1992.

There is an online line registration fee of $65. Instructions will be provided at the tryouts. Other fees regarding Uniforms etc will be determined on a team basis.
Soccer camp
The 2007 Richmond Hill Soccer Club and Richmond Hill Recreation Association’s summer soccer camp is May 21-25 at the Richmond Hill Elementary School fields. The coach for ages 9-14 is Adel Mustafa, a player at Mercer University. The coach for ages 5-8 is Leslie McConnell, a University of Georgia soccer player. The cost is $40 for ages 5-8 and $45 for ages 9-14. The camp for ages 5-8 is from 6-7:30 p.m. and the camp for ages 9-14 is from 6-8 p.m. For more information call Mohamad Mustafa at 727-2023.
Basketball camp
The Annual Jimmy Hires Wildcat basketball camp will be June 11-15 at the Richmond Hill rec gym. The cost is $50. Early registration is recommended. The camp is for boys and girls ages 7-17. For more information call Hires at 756-2625.
Stacy Webb tourney
The Stacy Webb Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament will be June 16 at Black Creek Golf Club. Scholarships are used to benefit the Calvary Day School Athletic Department and award scholarship money to one senior each year.
Webb was a freshman at Armstrong Atlantic State University, who earned a golf scholarship to play for AASU in the fall of 2004. He was born in Chatham County and moved to Bryan County at age 10, where participated in both counties’ recreational athletic programs. Webb, at age 18, was tragically killed in an automobile accident on Sept. 17, 2004. He attended Calvary Day School from the age of three months through graduation. From a very young age, Stacy was a true athlete, excelling in many athletic activities including basketball, soccer, football, baseball, cross country and golf.
Opportunities to donate include a corporate sponsorship of $400 or a hole sponsorship of $100. The cost is $80 per person to participate
Donations are also being accepted to fill "goody bags" for participating golfers

Fishing derby
The Richmond Hill Exchange Club will hold its Sixteenth Annual Fishing Derby on Saturday, June 2 from 8:30 a.m.-noon at the Richmond Hill Fish Hatchery on Hwy. 144. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. with fishing beginning at 8:30 a.m. The derby is free of charge and open to children ages 15 and under, accompanied by their parents or adult guardian. Over the past 16 years, thousands of children have participated, and the Exchange Club expects a large turnout again this year. The fishing derby will be at Fish Hatchery ponds that have been stocked with catfish. Participants should bring fishing poles equipped and ready to fish, as well as bait, although a limited amount of bait and fishing poles will be available for use free of charge.
Awards for children 12 and under will be presented for several categories, including, First Fish Caught, Most Total Pounds (limit of 10 fish), and Heaviest Fish. $50 Savings Bonds and/or trophies will be awarded for the various categories based on age, 7 to 12, and 6 and under. The savings bonds being awarded are donated by Bryan Bank and Trust, and the trophies are donated by the Exchange Club of Richmond Hill. All children will also be eligible for doorprizes to be given away during the derby.
All area children ages 15 and under are encouraged to participate. Parents or guardian should complete an official entry form for each child and bring it to the Fishing Derby on June 2.
