The Richmond Hill competitive cheer team with their first place trophy after competing at the West Laurens Raider Rumble on Sept. 30.

The Richmond Hill competition cheer team won first place each of the last two weekends.

The wins came in the team’s first two AAAAAA competitions, on Sept. 23 at the West Laurens Raider Rumble and Saturday at the Screven County Gamecock Challenge hosted at Georgia Southern University.

Team members are: Gracie Bean, Caitlin Boothe, Caroline Branan, Camdyn Brazzell, Heather Clifford, Kaylie Delatorre, Kennadee Edenfield, Ashlyn Fabre, Sydney Fortson, Mackenzie Frei, Hannah Gilkey, Allie Hill, Anastasia Holmes, Dequiala Kelly, Niyah Lawrence, Taylor Mason, Jordan Person, Landin Strickland and Rylie Williamson. They are coached by Brittnee Coffman and Amy Blocker.

In addition, the Wildcats also won the “lib-off” at both competitions. The word “lib” is a cheerleading term for a stunt. According to Coffman, at the end of each competition teams are invited to participate in the separate challenge. Whichever team holds the “lib” the longest and demonstrates the best safety wins. Each lib-off consists of a different number of competitors.

At West Laurens, it was Clifford, Frei, Mason and Holmes picking up the win. In the Screven County challenge, it was Clifford, Frei, Mason, Holmes and Fortson.

Their remaining schedule is this Saturday at East Laurens, Oct. 14 at Peachtree Ridge, Oct. 21 at Statesboro and Oct. 28 at Putnam County. Regionals will be Nov. 4 at West Laurens and the state tournament is Nov. 10-11 at the Columbus Civic Center.

The 2016 squad made the Elite Eight at the AAAAAA state tournament.
