Summarizing the Bible
pastor corner

I was thinking the other day about what the Bible is really all about. I came to this conclusion: it has three main emphasis. It speaks of the sinfulness of man, the holiness of God and then the bridge that allows for a relationship between the two.

The Bible makes it very clear that mankind has a sin problem. Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory (holiness) of God”. No one is exempt, every one of us will have bad thoughts, will say things that are not right and will do things that are wrong.

The Bible makes it clear as well about the holiness of God. In Isaiah 6:3 the heavenly beings were proclaiming, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory”. Revelations 15:4 reminds us of this holiness when it states, “For you alone are holy”. Our key problem is that if mankind doesn’t do something about their sin problem, we will face a God of judgement where we will be held accountable for our sins.

There is nothing on our own that we can do about the sin problem and nothing we can do to bridge the gap between the Holy God and our sinfulness.

So, God Himself made a way; He provided that bridge so that we can receive forgiveness and eternal life. That bridge is Jesus, and the Apostle Paul spoke about it in Romans 6:23. He said, “The wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord”.

You get to make the choice; will you accept the solution to your sin problem with its wonderful promises or will you reject it and suffer the eternal consequences?
