Throughout generations, people have perished or died from the lack of knowledge. Wagon trains didn’t have knowledge of the right routes going out to settle the west and didn’t make it. People didn’t have knowledge of the right medicine or remedy for some illnesses and died. A person could not see the danger ahead because of a bridge being washed away and could drive into the raging waters.
On a spiritual level there are many who lack the knowledge about Jesus and are coming to the close of their lives. When they leave this world they will be facing the judgement of God rather than His mercy. The scriptures make it plain that Jesus is our only hope for eternal life.
Hosea 4:6 makes a bold statement when it says, “My people are destroyed from the lack of knowledge”.
In that day the priests were silent as to the words from God but in our day we as followers of Jesus are the ones being silent. The Apostle Paul reveals the problem of us being silent in Romans 10:14. He says, “How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?”
To summarize this, Paul is saying that it takes faith in Jesus to be saved; people need to hear about Jesus and then it requires someone (that’s we Christians) to tell them about Jesus.
Could it be that there are those around you who have no knowledge of the truth about Jesus and you need to be willing to share it?
