Today I am looking out at a beautiful sunshine. On the surface it looks like the kind of day that a person could enjoy outdoor activities. The truth of the matter is that it is 31 degrees with a windchill of 26 degrees. In a sense, the sunshine is deceptive of what is really going on outside.
This reminds me of a scripture where Jesus is talking to the religious leaders of His day. In Matthew 23:26 it reads like this: “You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish and then the outside also will be clean.”
There are those, who on the surface, appear to live a godly life, like the Pharisees, but inside their heart they are full of deception. They have never received the transforming Spirit of God that cleans up the inner being of a person. If a person desires to live the life God intends for us to live, the first step is to admit that none of us can do this on our own. It only can happen as the result of us asking the Lord to come into our lives and make the change.
