Psalm 118:24 tells us that “this is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” The truth of the matter is that every day is a day that we can rejoice in.

Just the other day, when it was really cold, first thing in the morning I said to my wife, “This is a great day.” She, knowing how I hate the cold, said back to me, “Why would YOU say that?”

My response was, “I’ve been thinking about this, every day has some reason within it that gives reason for rejoicing.”

If it is pouring rain outside, then we get the water that is such a necessity for our survival. If it is cold outside, then there are pesky bugs that get destroyed. And when we are around the fireplace, we appreciate the warmth so much. When it’s sunny and warm outside, then we can enjoy all kinds of fun activities.

Life is not all about the weather – there are so many other reasons to rejoice over each new day. One reason is that our God is in control. This is a God who cares and loves us so much and wants the best for us.

Also those of us who have a relationship with God, based on what Jesus has done for us, can each day have the assurance of where we will end up when we pass from this life.

There are plenty of other reasons to rejoice today and so many things to look forward to.

If this day is not a beautiful day for you, it can be. Our God is waiting with open arms to accept you and to give you a reason to rejoice.
