Pembroke names new city administrator

Pembroke City Council has named a new administrator.

Dustin Peebles, who is a regional planner for the Heart of Georgia Altamaha Regional Commission, was the choice by a 5-0 vote Monday evening.

City Council had named one other finalist last month, Johnny Williams, who was formerly the city manager of Grantville. Williams had an extensive history of controversy in several of his previous positions, according to various reports posted on TV and newspaper websites in Alabama, Florida and Mississippi.

Before Monday’s vote, Pembroke had been without an administrator since the city asked former administrator Frank Etheridge to resign in 2011.
