UPDATE: GBI identifies couple killed in Richmond Hill

UPDATE: 

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has released information on their death investigation in Richmond Hill. Preliminary investigation indicates that Larry Rankin, age 62, shot his wife, Susan Rankin, age 58, and then turned the weapon on himself, causing his own death. Preliminary autopsy results confirm the finding, but the final report has not been released.

The motive of the incident and dispute between the two parties has yet to be determined. The investigation remains active and ongoing. Anyone with information concerning the investigation should call the GBI Statesboro office at (912) 871-1121.

EARLIER REPORT

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has confirmed it is "conducting a death investigation" involving a man and a woman found dead in a Richmond Hill home.

Thursday afternoon, the GBI Crime Scene Unit, along with Richmond Hill Department officers, remained at a home in the 700 block of Osprey Drive, after an incident was reported around noon.

Yellow crime scene tape surrounded the home in Richmond Hill's Piercefield Forest subdivision as the GBI continued their investigation. All roads, however, in and out of the neighborhood were open.

The GBI also said that there were no signs of a forced entry.

On the aqency's Twitter page, a tweet said the Richmond Hill Police Department requested the GBI conduct the investigation.
