RH restaurants make '100 Plates Locals Love'

ATLANTA — Three Richmond Hill restaurants have been named 2016-17 "100 Plates Locals Love" by the Georgia Department of Economic Development’s Tourism Division.

Georgia Tourism’s second annual list of popular places to eat is featured in the state’s culinary guide, Georgia Eats. The restaurants included in this list are All Things Chocolate and More, Melody’s Coastal Café and Bubba’s Bistro.

"The Richmond Hill Convention and Visitors Bureau actively promotes our locally owned restaurants, and launched a campaign last fall to encourage residents and visitors to vote for their favorite plate," said Christy Sherman, the executive director of the Richmond Hill CVB. "All Things Chocolate and More, Melody’s Coastal Café and Bubba’s Bistro are just three of dozens of our coastal community’s culinary offerings, and we couldn’t be any prouder to share them with the world."

The state’s cuisine is highlighed in the guide. Following the success of the culinary guide in 2015, the Tourism Division decided to re-create the guide to places to eat across the state. As a part of the "100 Plates Locals Love" designation, each restaurant is featured in the Georgia Eats culinary guide, which is distributed via the 12 Visitor Information Centers statewide; on the state’s consumer tourism website,; and on Explore Georgia’s social media channels.

"Georgia’s cities, towns and backroads are filled with authentic restaurants and culinary specialties that visitors love to experience when they travel," said Kevin Langston, deputy commissioner for tourism at the GDEcD. "The list of ‘100 Plates Locals Love’ is our way of providing visitors and locals with suggestions, the same way we would recommend restaurants to our family and friends."

The state launched a culinary landing page that features a culinary blogger, the Georgia Flavors videos, flavor tours and more.

The second annual Georgia Restaurant Week will take place July 18-24 at participating restaurants throughout Georgia. The event is to showcase restaurants to consumers and attract new visitors.

The dishes were selected from nearly 600 nominations that were submitted on in November and evaluated by a panel of judges, who selected the final list.
