From Bryan County Sheriff’s Office reports:
Feb. 9: A deputy was called around 6:13 a.m. to Public Landing Road regarding a vehicle that had rolled in the river. The complainant said she thought she had put the parking brakes on the vehicle while putting the boat in the river, but it began to roll backwards. A tow truck was called, towed the vehicle out and it was started and driven away by the complainant.
Feb. 9: A man who pulled over on Belfast Keller Road because his car was overheating was cited for not having insurance after a deputy who stopped to help ran the tag and learned the registration was suspended.
Feb. 9: A deputy conducted a welfare check on a Saddlebrush Road woman and her two teenage children.
Feb. 9: A deputy was called to a Pine Needle Drive residence regarding a verbal dispute between family members.
Feb. 9: A woman reported the license plate for a new car she bought in December had not arrived.
Feb. 9: A driver stopped on Highway 204 was cited for not having insurance and a suspended registration.
Feb. 9: A Florida man pulled over for speeding on I-95 – he was clocked at doing 89 mph -- was arrested for DUI and faces various drug charges and a charge of driving on a suspended license. He was later charged with obstruction and tased after fighting with a jail officer.
Feb. 9: A man pulled over in Pembroke was arrested for driving on a suspended license.
Feb. 9: A deputy arrested two people who had warrants on them after he was called to a River Bend Road residence regarding an unwanted person. Animal control was also called to take two dogs belonging to one of those arrested.
Feb. 8: A man was charged with stealing his mother’s Ford Explorer.
Feb. 10: A man was arrested on a failure to appear warrant after deputies were sent to an Arden Park Drive address regarding a verbal dispute. The man said he was yelling because he woke up and couldn’t find his pants.
Feb. 10: A man reported the decals for his pickup had been lost or misplaced.
Feb. 7: A teen was cited for failure to maintain lane after he was seen driving erratically on Highway 280 near Highway 204. There was a language barrier due to the teen saying he only spoke Creole and difficulties getting a language translation app that could help.
Feb. 7: A deputy was called to a Dunham Marsh address regarding a dispute between a woman and her father-in-law over security cameras and parking. The woman was told to contact her attorney.
Feb. 7: A man reported the tag on his utility trailer was missing.
Feb. 7: A Cartertown Road teen reported she was being harassed on social media.
Feb. 7: A truck driver was given a courtesy ride from the Pilot Truck stop on Highway 280 to the Evans County line after she reported she was delivering a load to Pooler and was told she was banned from the facility by Pooler police. The woman said her company had another driver use her truck to deliver the load, but while she was waiting at the truck stop for her truck to be returned it was repossessed by the company, which is located in Claxton. The deputy learned it had been repossessed by the trucking company, and gave her the ride to the county line, where an Evans County deputy picked her up and took her to Claxton.
Feb. 7: A North Bryan man was arrested for aggravated assault of his wife.
Feb. 7: A deputy was sent to Georgia Southern to pick up a man arrested by campus police on a Bryan County warrant for possession of marijuana.
Feb. 7: A man was arrested for driving on a suspended license and having expired registration after he was stopped on Highway 17 when the deputy’s tag reader alerted him to the violations.
Feb. 7: Deputies were called to an Oxford Drive address to assist in an exchange of property.
Feb. 8: A 49-year-old man pulled over after reports he was driving erratically on Highway 204 was arrested for DUI, reckless driving and suspended license. The deputy noted two empty fifths of whiskey, a partially empty fifth of whiskey and three empty 16-ounce beer cans were found in the man’s vehicle. And, the report said the man quit taking the sobriety test partway through, telling the deputy he was drunk.
Feb. 8: A man was charged with driving on a suspended license after he was stopped for driving 70 mph on Highway 17.
Feb. 8: A gate at the guard shack to the Hyundai Site was accidentally damaged by a driver who said the sun was in his eyes.
Feb. 8: Deputies responding to call “regarding a fire/explosion” spotted a man walking on Arden Loop carrying a machete. He was stopped and found to have a warrant on him for failure to appear in court.
Feb. 8: Four teens were banned from Devaul Henderson Park after they were involved in a fight and underage drinking. One teen was cited for pedestrian under the influence.
