Applications open July 15, 2026, for the Coastal Heritage Society (CHS) Teen Board Youth Volunteer Program for the 2026-2027 school year.
The Coastal Heritage Society Teen Board is designed to provide local high school students with new leadership and volunteer opportunities that engage with Savannah’s rich cultural history and expand educational programs.
The 2026–2027 Teen Board will bring together a select group of motivated and community-minded students to serve as ambassadors, provide youth perspectives on museum initiatives, and participate in hands-on volunteer projects at CHS sites.
Coastal Heritage Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that operates six historic sites and museums in Savannah, Georgia: Savannah History Museum, Savannah Children’s Museum and new STEAM Center, Georgia State Railroad Museum, Old Fort Jackson, Pin Point Heritage Museum, and Harper Fowlkes House.
Students who serve on the Teen Board will volunteer at CHS sites and events, recruit other teen volunteers, and provide input on how STEAM and history programming impact local youth and their communities. They will also help develop future STEAM and history programming for Coastal Heritage Society.
Applications are open from July 15 through Aug. 31, 2026, to students in grades 9–12 who live in Chatham, Bryan, Effingham, Liberty, and Beaufort counties. Students who attend public or private schools, as well as those who are homeschooled, are encouraged to apply.
Students selected for the Coastal Heritage Society Teen Board will have the opportunity to fulfill high school community service requirements while building their resumes through meaningful volunteer experience.
