For Alexa Mohler, the golf season never truly ends.
This spring, the Richmond Hill rising senior helped lead her team to a school-best runner up finish at the GHSA Class Class 6A tournament at Bentwater Country Club in Acworth.
The Wildcats had a third-place finish in 2025. Mohler finished third individually, shooting a two-day total of 148. Richmond Hill won seven tournaments, including the Blue Devil Classic, the Wildcat Invitational, and the Area-1 Class 6A title.
But after the regular season, Mohler has kept busy on the Georgia State Golf Association (GSGA) girls’ schedule. Her high school schedule has served as a springboard for her summer slate.
“I had a pretty good season, which has given me lots of confidence in my game,” stressed Mohler. “Each season shows me that I can compete with the best girls in the state, and that helps with strengthening my mental game.”
Mohler cited a tournament at Savannah Harbor, one that was one of her most productive days this year.
“I recently played in one GSGA at Savannah Harbor where I shot 74 and finished in first place,” said Mohler. “There was no one in the advanced division with me but out of the other girls there, I had the best score.
Mohler noted one club in particular made the difference.
“My driver was working really well at Savannah Harbor,” said Mohler. “I also had a few good shots close to the pin. My putting was just okay. I missed a few small putts and left a few lag putts par away.”
She recently competed in the 47th Georgia Girls’ championship, placing tied for 22nd in the field of 53.
Mohler fired an opening round 74, followed with a 73, and finished with an 81 on the final day for a three-day total of 228.
On her first day, Mohler was two over on the front nine and even on the back. That left her in easy striking range at 15th place overall.
“I played solid,” she said. “But I couldn’t get any birdies to fall. “
Mohler again played well on her second day, but she struggled on her final day.
“I finished off with a bad day,” said Mohler. “Every aspect of my game was a struggle for me.”
This week, Mohler plans to play in two GSGA tournaments, one at Southbridge Golf Club and another at Richmond Hill Country Club. At Southbridge, Mohler was the only girl in her division and shot a 78.
“The course was in really rough shape," said Mohler. “I couldn’t figure out how to manage it until later in the round.”
Overall, she has been happy with her game.
“My swing is feeling great,” said Mohler. “I need to narrow down my aim a bit and improve my putting. My set up and stroke for putting is a struggle for me right now, but I’m doing all that I can to improve.”
