The YMCA of Coastal Georgia provided $2.2 million in financial assistance in 2010 to more than 25,000 children, individuals and families in its four county service areas, and it hopes to do it again with the Priceless Gifts Campaign, which kicked off Monday.
The funds raised during this campaign will continue to support the financial assistance program at the nine branches of the YMCA of Coastal Georgia, which includes Richmond Hill.
The YMCA Priceless Gifts campaign means investing in the life of someone else throughout the year, said Cathy Rodgers, spokesperson for YMCA of Coastal Georgia.
Every gift makes an ongoing difference, she said, whether it’s a single father who needs a safe, nurturing environment for his children so he can continue working, or a child who will be given the chance to learn to swim.
The YMCA of Coastal Georgia has been a leader in the Coastal Empire, encouraging youth development, promoting healthy living and helping to develop social responsibility among families since 1855. Their mission of putting Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all is the thread which runs through each of their programs and services.
By partnering with community churches, the YMCA of Coastal Georgia and its branches have helped to launch 14 churches in four counties. Many host their worship services right at the branch.
There are many other benefits the YMCA of Coastal Georgia has to offer in the nine branches, including before and after school care programs known as Pryme Tyme. Each facility offers a variety of programs like day care, health and wellness, group exercise, youth sports, day camp, before and after school care, pre-k, child watch, teen programs, community outreach and corporate membership.
Throughout its history, the YMCA of Coastal Georgia has continued to honor their promise to furnish financial assistance to those who cannot afford program or memberships fees.
