Richmond Hill Middle School blanked Langston Chapel 10-0 in a girls’ soccer match in the schools’ region playoffs.

Kayla Jackson and Arianna Page scored three goals each for RHMS, while Mackenzie Winkworth had two goals and Ellie Filimonczuck and Sarah Hungerford each scored one goal.

Page, Lexie Merry and Avril Diaz had assists, and Ileanna Fernandez, Maggie Batson and Olivia Ortiz played well defensively.

The Lady Wildcats play in the region semifinals today at RHMS.

Wildcats earn win

The boys’ soccer team at Richmond Hill High School bounced back from a rare loss with a 2-1 win over Effingham County on Tuesday to improve to 8-2-1 and 1-1 in Region 2-AAAAAA.

Richmond Hill plays host to Bradwell in another region match Friday night.

The Lady Wildcats fell to 4-6-1 with a 1-0 loss to the Lady Rebels on Tuesday. Richmond Hill is 0-2 in the region. They also face BI at home on Friday night. The doubleheader begins at 5:30 p.m.

Baseball

Richmond Hill High School downed host Brunswick 4-1 in a Region 2-AAAAAA baseball game Monday. Mike Menhart went the distance for the Wildcats, striking out five in the region opener for both teams.

Jackson Finley and Braden Henle had two hits each for RHHS, while Kasey Green drove in a pair of runs.

The win, Richmond Hill’s third straight, improved the Wildcats to 10-6 overall heading into Wednesday night’s home game against the Pirates (9-6).

The Wildcats play at Brunswick on Friday, then host Effingham County on Monday.

Track and field

Richmond Hill’s boys won the Gary Townsend Invitational on Saturday in Jonesboro. The Wildcat girls finished sixth out of 12 teams.
