Wed., April 17

The Wildcats (15-10, 7-3) took the sting out of the Hornets tonight with a 14-hit night, and beat Savannah Country Day here at Wildcat Field, by a score of 9-3.  It was Senior Night and boy did the seniors show-out.  Head coach Thomas Hill also emptied the bench tonight and was complimented with some good performances.  Senior Jacob Montelbano got the start tonight on the mound and got the win.  Jacob has been side-lined most of the season with an injury, but showed some promise tonight.  Two juniors also came on in relief; lefty Hunter Clark, and righty Colby Tanner, and performed admirably.  Clark pitched two-thirds of an inning, not allowing a hit or a run, and Tanner pitched an inning and a third, throwing 16 pitches with 12 being strikes, not allowing a hit or a run, and striking out two batters. And in a somewhat rare feat, senior catcher, Gavin Martin, was called on in the 7th inning, and almost struck out the side, striking out two Hornet batters.  Senior Cooper Mobley was 2-2 at the plate, and drove in a run.  Lee Johnson, Noah Stone, Senior Bryce Hendricks, Connor Gilkey, and Martin all each had two hits.  Stone and Hendricks each scored twice, and Hendricks stole a base and drove in a pair of runs.

Savannah Country Day (11-12, 3-4, Region 3A) was led by Tyler Scott at the plate with two hits and two RBI's.  Gabe McKinney got the start on the mound and got the loss. Brooks Kleinpeter and Evan Sedory both came on in relief for the Hornets.

The Wildcats (Region #1, 7A, 2nd-Place) are back in action Thursday, April 18 at home against region opponent Colquitt County (Region #1, 7A, 3rd-Place), with a double-header.  Game #1 first-pitch is set for 4:30 p.m.
