More than 190 golfers will be hitting the greens on April 5 to help raise funds for the Bryan County High School Athletic Department.

According to BCHS Athletic Director Coach Ron Lewis, the school will be hosting their 13th Annual Redskins Golf Tournament at Black Creek Golf Course in Ellabell.

With a 9 a.m. shotgun start the three man scramble is sure to fill up fast. The public is invited to play in the fun but competitive tournament. Costs are $80 per person or $240 per team. Registration deadline is Friday, April 3.

Handicaps will be requested upon registration. The tournament will be a Gross/Net tournament. There will be cash prizes awarded to the following finishes: first gross will receive $750, second gross will receive $300, and first net will also receive $750 and second net will receive $300. (Gross will be paid first. If a team wins either part of the gross, they will not be eligible for Net prizes.)

This year will be the first year the tournament will be offering a ladies division. First place ladies team will receive $300 and second place will receive $150.

The BCHS Athletic Department budget includes expenses for baseball, softball, basketball, football, track, tennis and many other high school sports.

Tournament coordinators are currently seeking area businesses and individuals to sponsor the golf holes at the tournament. Just like in past years, for a $100 donation businesses and/or individuals can sponsor a hole. For sponsors looking to expand their presence with area Redskins fans year round, there is a new sponsorship level available this year. In addition, to the $100 hole sponsorship businesses and individuals can take advantage of the new "Super Redskins" sponsorship level.

This coming year the Redskins will be adding an entry sign to their football stadium. The large "Home of the Redskins," sign will have slots available for sponsorship. "Super Redskins" sponsors at the golf tournament will have their business included on the new stadium sign and also have their traditional hole sponsorship sign, all for just $350. The slot on the stadium sign is not only top advertising at all home games but it is visible to all daily traffic coming and going from Bryan County Middle School.

These signs will be professionally manufactured by Doug Bean Sign Company.

All donations are tax deductible. Checks made payable to BCHS.

Mulligans and strings will also be on sell during the tournament. Prizes will be awarded for Longest Drive and Closes to the Pin. Door prizes will be handed out afterwards. All players are invited to a barbeque at the golf course club house at the end of the round.

"We have a really nice tournament set up this year," said Coach Lewis. "The tournament is a fun day on the green for everyone; you can’t go wrong helping raise money for all our school’s young athletes. We really appreciate how much our community does to help make the tournament a success."
