MARIETTA — The Georgia State Games and the Georgia Sports Foundation have created the Scholastic Sports Olympiad to encourage competition and physical fitness in Georgia schools.
This program promotes physical fitness during the summer months for elementary-, middle- and high-school students.
Any Georgian can participate in these events, no matter age, ability level or location.
Eligible participants include anyone who attends and competes in the 2013 Georgia State Games Championships and is registered in a state of Georgia school.
When participants register on the Georgia Games website, their school name is included on the registration form. Therefore, each participant automatically becomes a representative for their school and from that point forward begins to contribute to the points earned for each school.
This competition includes elementary, middle and high schools from A to AAAAAA, with eight divisions total. There will be first- through third-place awards presented to each school. Winners will be determined based on the points earned in the following areas: overall placing in each event participated, general participation points, distance traveled and sportsmanship points.
