The Richmond Hill Swim Team made another big splash this season.

The team, comprised of 101 swimmers, finished third out of 10 teams in the Savannah Coastal Swim League this summer.

The swimmers collectively won more than 600 improvement labels and finished the season 3-2.

Fourteen swimmers earned 2015 all-star honors by finishing in the top 10 in their age groups in the annual SCSL City Meet on July 11 at the Chatham County Aquatic Center.

“We had 101 swimmers this summer season and they all did amazing,” said Erin Cowan of the Richmond Hill Swim Club. “The program continues to grow every year.”

The Richmond Hill Swim Team was formed four years ago and quickly has grown to become one of the largest summer swim teams in the area, according to Cowan.

“In trying to accommodate the large demand for a swim team, the Richmond Hill Swim Club has started offering a year-round swim team with several USA-certified coaches,” Cowan said.

Swim-team members use the 25-meter lap pool on Ford Avenue in Richmond Hill.

The Richmond Hill Swim Club would like to see the city build a larger community pool.

“There is such a need for a pool in Richmond Hill,” Cowan said. “We have over 600 kids in swim lessons.”
