Richmond Hill’s first road test of the season proved to be a tough one.
After opening the season with two home wins, the Wildcats lost 51-24 at Ware County on Friday.
Richmond Hill fell to 2-1 on the season and 1-1 in Region 3-AAAAA. Ware County, the three-time defending region champion, improved to 4-0 and 2-0.
Xavier Bryant-Long completed 9 of 12 passes for 117 yards for RHHS.
Aaron Bedgood piled up 117 yards and a touchdown on two receptions, and Sam James had a team-high five catches for 76 yards.
Maurice Smith was the Wildcats’ leading rusher with 32 yards and a touchdown.
Josh Washington returned a fumble 86 yards for a touchdown to go along with his nine tackles, including six solo stops.
Richmond Hill will be back home next Friday to face Glynn Academy at 7:30 p.m.
