Free celebrations are planned in the area for National Hunting and Fishing Day on Sept. 28, according to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Wildlife Resources Division.
Events will be held at the Richmond Hill Fish Hatchery in the form of Outdoor Adventure Days. Highlights will include archery and air-rifle shooting, bass fishing, wildlife programs, exhibits and more.
The event, which runs from 8 a.m.-noon, is free for children ages 15 and younger along with their parent or guardian.
In addition, free fishing is offered to all Georgia residents that day.
Residents will not need a fishing license or a trout license to fish on any public waters in the state, including lakes, streams, ponds and public fishing areas.
Also, residents do not need to obtain a wildlife-management area license to fish on a PFA, WMA or on Waters Creek on this day.
