An increase in sponsorship is allowing organizers of the inaugural Tour de Ford 10 Miler to offer a $20 discount to entrants who register by Monday. The race, which will begin and end at The Ford Plantation, is scheduled for 8 a.m. on Aug. 13.

To get the discount, use the code FORD20. More details are available on the event’s Facebook page or you can call race director Sandra Elliott of Georgia Game Changers at (912) 445-2163.

The multi-terrain race will start and finish in front of Henry Ford’s summer mansion and include pre- and post-race tours of the home along with a vintage car display, specially designed finisher medals and a post-race meal served by Ford Plantation chefs.

“Many local residents have never had such access to this incredible community,” said Christy Sherman, president of the Richmond Hill Historical Society. “We are excited to be a part of this fundraiser, which benefits our organization, but also exposes the participants and their families a glimpse of the rich history of the area.”

Several local businesses will be general or mile marker sponsors, while title sponsor title sponsor United Community Bank Financial Services will be at the finish line holding the tape.

“Many of the sponsors will have special gifts for the runners, and there will be some truly exceptional raffle prizes as well,” said Ron Elliott of Georgia Game Changers, “We are thrilled by the response of the local businesses, as well as by the generosity of The Ford Planation members, themselves.”
