Richmond Hill girls qualify for state cross country meet

The Richmond Hill High School girls cross country team finished third at the Region 2-AAAA meet on Saturday in Augusta to earn a trip to the state Class AAAA meet.

Sophomore Amanda Elliot led the way for the Lady Wildcats, placing seventh on the hilly course with a time of 21 minutes and 31 seconds.

Shanee Mckee, Chloe Giorgianni, Moe Stubblefield and Taylor Carpenter had solid performances as well, finishing 22, 23, 26 and 29 to round out the scoring. Arisa Spill placed 34th while Jodan Shonka finished 42nd.

The boys placed seventh, paced by Nathan Scroggins' 17th place finish.
Micheal Kelly, Jameson Cunningham, Clint Martin and Tanner Hicks rounded out the top five finishers for RHHS, while both Andy Balas and Donavan Gerber placed in the top 50 overall for the boys.

The state meet is Saturday in Carrollton.
