Richmond Hill High School dropped from the ranks of the unbeaten with a 14-13 loss to Wayne County on Friday night at Wildcats Stadium.

The Wildcats played catchup for much of the night, first trying the score at 7-7 on a 90-yard interception return from Aaron Dixon and an extra point from Canon Rooker with 30 seconds left in the first half, then marching downfield on a 12-play, 65-yard drive capped by Alex Cruz' 18-yard touchdown run to pull within 14-13 with 11 minutes left to play. 

Then, things got controversial when a Wayne County player appeared to hurdle the line of scrimmage and block the kick -- which is illegal in high school football. Despite arguments from RHHS coaches the play stood.

The Wildcats had one last shot at pulling the game out, but turned the ball over on downs near midfield with 3:13 left to play and Wayne County was able to run out the clock.

The loss drops Richmond Hill to 5-1 overall and 1-1 in Region 2A-AAAA.Wayne County improves to 3-2-1 and 2-0 in the subregion.
