Lady Wildcats win opener
Richmond Hill High School beat host Calvary Day 8-0 on Thursday in a nonregion high school softball game.
Natalie Corbin paced RHHS with a 3-for3 day at the plate. Katie Petty and Sam Mault each had a hit and two RBIs for the Lady Wildcats, and Izzy Marsh had a hit and and RBI.
Ally Crum got the win, tossing two innings of no-hit ball.
Morgan Hunter and Mault pitched in relief for RHHS, which is 1-0.

Barfield brilliant
Brooke Barfield pitched a gem, but Bryan County’s bats were silenced in a 1-0 loss Thursday to 2-AA foe Long County. Long County’s only run came in the eighth inning. Individual stats were not available.
The loss dropped BCHS to 2-3 overall.

Freelance sportswriters wanted to help cover sports at Bryan County High School. Ability to write clearly is essential. Experience covering high school sports is helpful.
