Lady Redskins pick up three preseason wins in Norcross

Bryan County High School picked up wins over St. Pius, Providence Christian and Wesleyan in preseason softball action in Norcross earlier this week.
The Lady Redskins knocked off St. Pius 2-1 in three inningsWednesday behind the pitching of Alana Walker, who walked four and struck out two while allowing one earned run, according to the team’s GameChanger site. Layton Harrell’s had the Lady Redskins’ only hit, an RBI triple which drove in Alayna Williams.
Tuesday, Bryan County bombed Providence Christian 10-1. The Lady Redskins had 10 hits in the blowout win while pitcher Brooke Barfield tossed a one-hitter over five innings, striking out six and walking two.
Harrell, Barfield and Taylor Roop had two hits each for Bryan County. Kaylin Leggett, Logan Harrell, Brooklynn Williams and Kaylee Perks had hits as well.
Earlier Tuesday, the Lady Redskins knocked off Wesleyan 9-2. Layton Harrell each had a three-run home run and Barfield added a two-run shot. Harrell went 3-for-3 and drove in three runs and Barfield finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
Also getting hits for BCHS were Layton Harrell, Leggett, Williams and Paige Shuman. Walker picked up the win for the Lady Redskins, who open the 2013 regular season at 5 p.m. at home against McIntosh County Academy in a Region 2-AA contest.
