Quick hits:

-- Taylor Butler's two-run homer in the first inning of the opener provided all the runs star Tiffany Howard needed. But senior center fielder Sierra Newman's game ending-double play may have been the play of the series.

With one out and a runner on third in the top of the seventh, Newman made a running catch of a liner to center and then threw a strike to catcher Jenna Newman to beat the runner to the plate.

-- The Lady Redskins wins gave them 100 over the pat four seasons.

-- "Amazing, these girls are just amazing," Coach Al Butler, immediately after the game.

Bryan County High School is headed back to the state Class A finals.

The No. 2-ranked Lady Redskins (30-8), ensured their fourth trip to the Final Eight in five seasons with a 2-1, 8-1 sweep of Miller County on  a cold and windy Wednesday in Pembroke.

 More to come.
