The days after Christmas were busy for the basketball teams at Bryan County High School.
The Lady Redskins competed in the Brewton-Parker Christmas Classic in Mount Vernon. Bryan County (10-2) lost to Dougherty 42-32 in the championship game on Dec. 20 despite 18 points from Olivia Melvin, who was named to the All-Tournament team.
The Lady Redskins got to the title contest with a 53-44 win over Appling County and a 68-48 victory over Tattnall County. Olivia Melvin was high scorer for BCHS in both contests with 21 and 23 points, respectively.
“It was a great experience, more like a region tournament atmosphere,” said BCHS coach Mario Mincey. “There was a good crowd each day we went there and we had some good AA competition in Tattnall and Appling and AAA competition out of Dougherty.”
