Georgia Southern head football coach Willie Fritz gives the defense some spirited instructions during a timeout in the fourth quarter against Western Michigan at Paulson Stadium on Sept. 12.

Following a Thursday interview in New York, Georgia Southern head coach Willie Fritz is reportedly prepared to accept the head coaching job at Tulane University in New Orleans.

Fritz was in Mobile, Alabama — site of the GoDaddy Bowl, where Georgia Southern will play Dec. 23 — on Wednesday for an official visit to the bowl site, but did not return to Statesboro with Georgia Southern Director of Athletics Tom Kleinlein.

Reports that Fritz flew to New York to meet with Tulane athletic director Troy Dannen were confirmed late Thursday. Rumors are now circulating that Fritz is Dannen's choice and that agreement on terms of a contract are expected later Friday.
