Excitement building for 2nd Tour De Ford
tour de ford

Sponsorships and race registration for the upcoming 2nd Annual Tour de Ford 10 Miler Race, to be held Sept.  23 at Ford Plantation, are growing by leaps and bounds this year. No small task, but the efforts by this year’s race beneficiary, Richmond Hill High School Band and Band Boosters Club, are paying off, according to race directors Ron and Sandra Elliott.

The 10-mile race takes participants through multiple neighborhoods and onto two different dykes that are a part of the expansive Ford Plantation property.

This year’s race will include some additional experiences for the runners, as band members the Richmond Hill High School band will be strategically set at various locations throughout the property.

There is a heightened sense of expectation about this year’s race, which brings along some of the favorite parts of last year’s inaugural race, like the antique cars, which were spread about throughout last year’s course, but also participated in a post-race parade.

The excitement in part, is about the RHHS band, which has never participated in a local race, such as this.  They are thrilled to be able to fundraise in this way, which is critical in allowing them to purchase instruments and other equipment for the 200 plus-member band—the largest student organization on the Richmond Hill High School campus.

The Band’s Booster Club has been extremely active and out in the community raising awareness of the race, and the local businesses have responded in a ‘game changing’ way.

This year’s sponsor list includes the following:

Platinum Sponsor:  United Community Financial Services

Gold Sponsor:  Courtney Camp Highsmith, DMD
