The Bryan County Lady Redskins moved up to No. 3 in Class A in the latest PrepCountry.com coaches poll.
The Lady Redskins are 19-7 and winners of six of their last seven, including a 4-1 mark over the weekend at the Gordon Lee Tournament in Chattanooga, Tenn.
In that tournament, hosted by 2010 state Class A champ Gordon Lee, the Lady Redskins knocked off Trion 9-2, St. Pius X 9-1 before falling 4-3 to Union, Okla.
The Lady Redskins rebounded with back-to-back 7-3 wins over Ridgeland and Dade County.
Bryan County has road gamea Thursday against Savannah Country Day and Sept. 26 at Effingham County.
The Region 3-A playoffs begin Sept. 29.

Coastal Cheer
The Richmond Hill High School competition cheerleading team will host the Coastal Cheer Classic on Saturday. High schools from around Georgia will compete at the event. Admission is $8.

Wildcats down BI
The Richmond Hill High School volleyball team beat Windsor Forest and Bradwell Institute on Thursday in Hinesville in nonregion matches.
The Lady Wildcats knocked off BI 2-1 (25-20, 22-25), then beat Windsor Forest 2-0 (25-16, 25-11) to improve to 19-11 overall. Richmond Hill played Glynn Academy, Ware County and Brunswick on Tuesday in Region 2A-AAAA competition.

RHHS softball
The Richmond Hill High School softball team improved to 9-16 overall with a win Saturday over Cairo from Region 1-AAA.
The Lady Wildcats beat the Lady Syrupmakers 7-5 in their final game of the Vikettes Invitational.
Richmond Hill (3-5 in region) faced Region 2A-AAAA leader Wayne County on Tuesday in Jesup. The Lady Wildcats take on Glynn Academy on Thursday in Brunswick. Both are key region matchups.

Elliott takes second
Richmond Hill High School sophomore Amanda Elliott finished second at a cross country meet on Thursday in Wayne County to pace the Lady Wildcats to a second-place finish.
Elliot ran the 5K course in 21 minutes, eight seconds.
Also placing in the top 10 for the Lady Wildcats were Shanee McKee and Moe Stubblefield.
Rounding out the top five runners for RHHS were Arisa Spill and Taylor Carpenter, who placed 16th and 17th, respectively.
In the boys competition, Donavan Gerber and Jameson Cunningham placed seventh and eighth, respectively, to help pace the Wildcats to a second-place team finish.
Clint Martin took 12th, Tanner Hicks was 15th and Michael Kelly was 16th for Richmond Hill.
