BI tops Richmond Hill in hoops doubleheader

Bradwell Institute swept host Richmond Hill High School in a Region 3B-AAAAA basketball doubleheader on Friday night.

The Tigers won 80-73 behind 24 points from Miguel Pineda and 22 from Malcom Dingle. Bradwell (8-6 overall, 4-0 in 3B-AAAAA) led by as many as 30 points in the first half before RHHS made a late run. Pineda hit six 3-pointers in the game, including four in the first quarter for the Tigers.

Richmond Hill (4-7, 1-4) was led by Jeremiah Hill with 32 points and Nick Fitzgerald added 12.

In the girls’ contest, Bradwell improved to 4-0 in the subregion with a 50-38 win over the Lady Wildcats (8-3, 3-1), who suffered their first subregion loss. Shaquoia Crockett paced the Lady Tigers with 24 points while Akeyla Richardson added 14.

Keeara Jackson led RHHS with 24 points.

Bradwell Institute is off Saturday night.Richmond Hill plays at Statesboro.
