The Georgia High School Association (GHSA) Executive Director, Dr. James R. Hines, Jr. has recognized and presented the 2023-24 National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) Award of Excellence to Richmond Hill High School 2nd-year Head Baseball Coach, Hill Thomas. Below is a copy of the congratulatory letter presented to Coach Thomas, from Dr. Hines (GHSA).

"Congratulations on your selection as a recipient of the 2023-24 NFHS Award of Excellence.  This prestigious honor is awarded to individuals who display the highest level of Sportsmanship, Ethics and Integrity as leaders in high school athletics and activities.  The Georgia High School Association greatly appreciates your commitment to creating the best possible opportunities for our member schools and their student-athletes as an extension of the classroom."

Coach Hill Thomas commented, "I'm honored to receive this award. I know there’s a lot more deserving than me and I’m happy for our family, program, school, and community.” “There’s a lot of people that deserve a thank you for playing an instrumental role in my development, not only as a teacher and coach, but more importantly, as a person. I’m blessed to have Kennedie as a rock for our family. People don’t recognize enough how instrumental a spouse is to a coach. Very thankful and very honored.”  

RHHS Assistant Principal and Athletic Director, Stacy Bennett commented, “We are extremely proud of Coach Thomas and grateful for his leadership on and off the field. He is most deserving of this award.”
