We are not all the same and we all have different gifts and talents. God creates us this way so that through our lives we can be more affective and successful as well as bring honor back to God.
The same is true in the church of Jesus Christ; we all have different callings and giftedness. In a letter to the churches, the Apostle Paul put it this way when, in 1 Corinthians 12, he said, “There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them”.
Paul uses the members of our physical body to illustrate this point. The Apostle Paul states in Romans 12, “For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.”
Later on in this chapter, the writer describes the different parts of the body and how important it is for them to work together in order for the body to function correctly.
People within a church have to learn to work together if that church is going to function correctly and have the greatest impact on themselves and their community.
This makes every person important and every job important. Think about this, the nursery worker is just as important as the pastor and the greeter is just important as the worship leader. The important truth is that people are being used where they are gifted.
The big question today is this, do you know where you are gifted and are you using what God has given you in order to make a difference in the world where God has placed you?
