Easter is a celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, which occurred on the 3rd day after His crucifixion. This occurrence gives us hope of a new life here on earth as well as the hope of eternal life. It assures believers in Jesus that we too can rise again after death and be reunited with Jesus and those who have gone before us.
Speaking of this hope of a new life, it really is the promise of change and transformation. When a person allows Jesus to come into his or her life, actions, attitudes, and speech begin to be different.
There is a new outlook on life and a distaste for sin.
One of the best illustrations for this new life happens at baptism, if administered by immersion. When a person goes down into the water, it identifies that person with the death and burial of Jesus Christ, but also the death to the old way of living. When a person comes up out of the water it identifies that person with the resurrection of Jesus, but also the resurrection to a new way of living.
A huge question to be considered today is, are you experiencing this new life made available to you because of the resurrection of Jesus?
